JANE SHELLY – TEACHER
- Teaching private flute lessons in Fairfield County for the past 25 years.
- Co-founder of Wilton Music Studios
- Thriving studio of private students as well as several flute choirs.
- Conducts the flute choir at the First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan (open to advanced amateur flutists of all faiths)
- Instrumental Chairperson of the Young Musicians Festival, Sponsored by the Schubert Club of Fairfield County
STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES
Jane’s students actively participate in their school band programs and many also play in the local youth orchestras. Her students regularly participate in the Young Musicians Festival. Her advanced students often participate in the Western Regional and All-State band auditions and several have won positions in those bands. Several of her students have gone on to become music majors in college.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND SERVICE
Jane’s students are also active in their respective communities. Each month a few students perform in what they call the Second Sunday Series at the New Canaan Inn. The flute choirs lead the New Canaan Halloween Parade on the Sunday before Halloween each year. Additionally, her students have on occasion been asked to perform at various civic functions such as the New Canaan Historical Society Christmas Tea and at 3030 Park, an elder residence in Bridgeport. Her more advanced students also perform frequently in their respective churches.
